Long time user of Spin It Again, under Windows XP. Worked flawlessly.

Installed Windows 7 Home Premium, and reinstalled SIA. I am having a problem with the fact that W7 doesn't "see" the USB turntable as such but rather as a USB microphone, and I cannot get a good recording. The Recording Wizard tells me the input is too loud, but I cannot turn it down.

I realize this problem could well be with W7 and NOT SIA. Like I say, long time HAPPY user. (So much for jumping into Windows 7!!!)

Any insight, suggestion or recommendations would be welcome.

Note: Under WinXP, when I started recording an LP, the input on the recording screen read USB CODEC...under Win 7 it reads Master Volume. I'll continue tweaking and post back if I find any kind of solution. Sound card is the on board audio Realtek ALC889A Audio Codec. I did install the Windows 7 Driver for the audio.

This would be an issue with how windows sees the turntable, probably a question for the turntable manufacturer, they may be working on a 7 compatible driver at the moment.

Vista just does that for some USB devices. It doesn't hurt anything. You can still use it as your recording source.

Seems the problem I have now when I do set the source to the USB Codec Microphone, the sound is so loud it's grossly distorted. I've tried the wizard with no luck...gotten the message that the sound is too loud, turn down the volume, which I cannot as I'm using the USB connectivity.

Not sure what the deal is, but it makes it unusable. Any recording I try to make, the vu meters are to the max...which yields a completely unacceptable recording. Again, using the wizard to set the sound does no good.

Truth be told I have another machine with WinXP...and the easiest thing to do is going to be to just move the turntable to that machine.

Maybe someday when I have a couple of hours to waste I can try to set it up on the new machine...but till then, long live XP. Wink

Hi,

Does the level wizard have a volume slider? You can try just manually adjusting the volume and ignoring the level wizard.

Have tried that, but even at barely above "off" it still results in a completely unacceptable recording.

Again, for the record, I've used SIA for nearly 2 years and have have really come to rely on it as I've recorded well over 200 LPs. And reading on the site that it worked fine with Windows 7 was great to see. So trust me I was surprised as the dickens when I installed Home Premium. plugged in the turntable and began to encounter these problems.

The problem here is the compatibility between win7 and that turntable. SIA is only working with what the operating system gives it.
You might ask the turntable support team if there is a fix for this in windows 7.
