Dan used to work for Sonic Foundry before he came to Acoustica.

Re: Mixcraft still the easiest learning curve!

Mixcraft is definitely my go-to DAW for songwriting and will probably always be. However, it sadly doesn't get used for recording anymore because the sound quality just isn't there, especially as relates to the stereo image. I am a huge fan of the old Emagic plugins (like the EVB3, etc...) and pick...

Re: Why Only 16-Bit From ASIO Interface

Hi, ASIO4All is just a generic ASIO driver. Your best option would be to get a USB audio interface that provides its own ASIO driver, along with the bit depth settings you want. In regard to the "32-bit" at the bottom of Mixcraft's screen, Mixcraft always mixes audio internally at 32-bit. ...

Re: Loopback Recording

Hi,

With recent updates to Windows 10, the "Stereo Mix" recording device seems have disappeared as a choice.

It used to be that it was just hidden, if you want to check whether that's the case on your computer, check out this FAQ article.

Re: The WORST feature in Mixcraft is.........

Hi, Here's the first part of the article: The stereo master fader in your DAW’s virtual mixer is not for controlling the output level of your studio speakers. This is an all-too-common mistake, but an easy one to make. I mean, it does turn down your speaker level, right? Yes, but think about what’s ...

Re: The WORST feature in Mixcraft is.........

Hi,

That's one of the reasons ASIO works so well -- it bypasses extra processing by things like the Windows Volume Mixer.

So, if you're using an ASIO device, you're back to just adjusting the speaker volume.

Re: My Confession

I am a long time user of another daw that was at one time possibly going to go out of business. During that time several daw companies frequented that daw website to offer their software as an alternative. MIxcraft was one of the offerings made. I must confess I was tough in my critique of Mixcraft...

Re: The WORST feature in Mixcraft is.........

Hi,

Are you all the way in Mixcraft (and not just on the new project screen)?

If so, it may be that this tip is not for those using ASIO mode.

Hi,

The Windows Volume Mixer allows you to have different volumes for different apps.

Re: The WORST feature in Mixcraft is.........

Hi,

Did you read the article Mark linked? Read the first paragraph.

Here's something you could try: right-click on the small volume icon in your Windows task bar and select Volume Mixer. Turn the volume down on Mixcraft.

Re: Save Failed

Hi, That looks right. Try restarting your computer and then saving a project in Mixcraft. If the problem happens again, quit Mixcraft and send in your mixcraft-log.txt file. To find the mixcraft-log file, highlight the following line and press Ctrl+C to copy it: %appdata%\Acoustica\Mixcraft\ Press t...

But seriously - having two monitors is sweet.

Plus, there are also keyboard shortcuts for those functions.

Re: Save Failed

Hi,

It's probably some kind of Windows permission issue. Make sure you're saving to a location that Mixcraft has permission to access.

If you go into Mixcraft's Recording preferences, what do you have selected for the Default Project Folder setting?

Hi, You would select the "Use MIDI From Track" option on the FX dialog. Here's an example with the GSnap effect: https://www.acoustica.com/images/forum-images/tipuseMIDIfromtrackgsnap.png You might also want to play around with Audio Control: Using Audio Control In Mixcraft 8 video . That ...
